Knowing Is Only Half The Battle

Summer is completely swing. It seems like every short while I’m complaining about how exactly hot it is. Trying to stay cool is impossible at times nearly. Not only is the summer heat uncomfortable, but it also causes my skin to begin acting up. I’ve discussed earlier about an observation I made not long ago.

I noticed that people, who experienced clear epidermis typically, would experience heightened congestion, essential oil production, and breakouts during the summer months. It happens to all of us. I too enjoy better epidermis in the fall & winter. I had developed my suspicions as to the reasons it was happening. But now I’ve stumbled on info that clarifies exactly why our skin’s essential oil production will go haywire in the summertime. The simple reason oily pores and skin is prevalent in the summer has to do with the temperatures of our skin. In a nutshell, the warmer our skin becomes, the more sebum is released through our pores. We realize this because a study verified it.

Basically, they measured the level of sebum production by skin heat. They used the forehead as the concentrate of the scholarly study. Half of the subject’s forehead remained at room temperature. The spouse was warmed or cooled gradually. What they noticed is the relationship between epidermis sebum and heat-range production.

The hotter your skin, the greater sebum present. Maybe that has to do the with how our skin pores open up slightly in warmer temps. Or possibly the excess heat “softens” the sebum allowing it to secrete more freely. These are just speculations, but we know for a fact that our epidermis is a lot more oily when it’s hot away.

Knowing is half the fight. Just what exactly can we do to keep summer season oily skin at bay? The first strategy is to develop a skin care routine that promotes a natural matte surface finish. We’ve discussed this before. No longer can we carry the same skin regimen throughout the entire year.

Summer skin is different than winter epidermis and we should adapt accordingly. Beyond the noticeable change in routine, we can leverage the newfound data regarding epidermis temperature to your advantage. The cooler we keep the skin we have, the better. I’m not just a fan of consuming ice cool water but if this means that I can keep my internal temp down, then I’m happy to enjoy cold drinks. Some say that consuming a hot beverage on the hot day causes your body to work hard to cool itself down. But it will so by causing you to sweat.

In most instances, sweating is undesirable (unless you’re being active) so I’d rather take my chances with cold water which immediately drops your internal (core) temp. The other course of action to help keep up with the proper skin temp is to cool down using spray mists. I’m a huge fan for cosmetic mists.

Within seconds I could hydrate and cool the skin at once. Not merely does it establish your makeup, the fine drinking water particles can replace the utilization of sweat to help cool your skin. Heck, you can also keep your facial mist in the refrigerator to create an even greater cooling effect. As long as your skin keeps a desirable temperature, you’ll help prevent oil creation from increasing. Keep this in mind if in you’re engaging in activities come early July like enjoying lunch time at an outdoor cafe. If you can keep your skin temp down whenever you can, you are doing a better part to maintain your essential oil glands will stay in check. JavaScript is disabled in this internet browser.
